Podcast – Not Quite Strangers

In July 2022, I met up with a multiracial group of 11 women from across the U.S. and Jamaica for a long-awaited Civil Rights Tour. We had originally intended to take the trip in 2020, but then…the pandemic. So, in 2022 we spent our first full day together in Montgomery, Alabama exploring the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice. The experience felt like a pilgrimage, and I think every U.S. citizen should make the trek to see what I consider the most amazing museum in the country (beyond what I experienced at any of our national museums).

While at the memorial, my group began talking with a woman who was also there visiting with her family. Her name is Valerie Hope. She had such a bright energy about her that we exchanged information and I followed up with an email. That exchange led to an invitation to join her on her podcast, Not Quite Strangers, where Valerie brings together two people that otherwise might never meet. The purpose is to find connection. I was excited to speak with Jae, who works at the very museum/memorial where Valerie and I met.

I invite you to listen to our conversation….
